A Liverpool player has donated £25,000 to Alder Hey’s coronavirus funding.
The children’s hospital is a short distance from the Reds’ Melwood base and has seen its intensive care capacity tripled during the current pandemic.
Jurgen Klopp’s side remain in lockdown after the Premier League postponed games until April 30 due to the Covid-19’s UK outbreak in mid-March.
Players have been taking part in remote training sessions from their homes to maintain fitness ahead of a planned return to action at the end of the month.
But Alder Hey revealed on Wednesday that an unidentified member of the Anfield first-team had pledged the five-figure sum to their efforts.
“We’re so grateful to the @LFC player who has made a donation to the @AlderHeyCharity COVID-19 appeal for £25,000!”, the hospital confirmed on Twitter.
“The player wishes to remain anonymous, but on behalf of all of our staff, patients and their families, thank you.”
