Gini Wijnaldum set to be offered new Liverpool deal until 2024

According to reports, Liverpool are set to offer star midfielder Gini Wijnaldum a new contract that will keep the player at the club till 2024.

The 29-year-old’s contract will come to an end in 2021. The Liverpool board are in the midst of tabling a new deal to the impressive Dutchman.

It will be a just reward for a player who has been central to Jurgen Klopp’s system at Liverpool. Since joining the club in 2016, he has made 177 appearances and producing a return of 18 goals and 16 assists.

The versatile Dutchman has played in a variety of positions and has scored a number of crucial goals for the Reds. Not a single fan will forget his second-half cameo against Barcelona last season.

The news will be welcomed by fans who have come to see the Dutchman emerge as a key player for the team.

Wijnaldum, who is currently on a pay packet of £75,000-a-week, refused to give away anything whenever he was quizzed on the matter. The player chose to play coy on his future prospects as he played the cards close to his chest.

Klopp too rarely brought up the topic, which could show his confidence in the matter being resolved in our favour. Wijnaldum is set to join a number of other stars who have committed their long terms futures to the club.

Hope for the best but prepare for the worst

Liverpool has been transfer savants in the past few windows. The club is once again on top of things as they have already identified the player to replace Wijnaldum if he decides not to pen an extension.

That player is Denis Zakaria. The Borussia Monchengladbach midfielder is capable of playing in a variety of positions. His ability to do so will be a boon to Klopp, helping him explore different options.
